The Etiolles Country Club hosted the 10th edition of the International School on Nanosciences . This year, 39 participants attended classes of the school. Several international speakers came to exchange with the students including the Physics Nobel Prize Albert Fert.
In the program, there were conferences by nanosciences specialists but also talks from researchers from the social sciences and humanities fields.
The Wednesday night was the dedicated to the “sciences bar”. The topic of this session was “Nanosciences, nanotechnologies and food”.
The participants presented their work during the three poster sessions. Three posters were rewarded by the International School on Nanosciences jury:
“Model-Systems of Thin Insulating layers and Organic Molecules”, by Ala Husseen (Institut des Sciences Moléculaires d’Orsay – UMR 8214)
“Production and self-assembly of bifunctional nanoparticles using microbial cell factory”, by Wei-An Weng (CNRS - UMR 8640 - Division 1328)
“Tip-Enhanced Raman Spectroscopy : chemical analysis at the nanoscale”, by Thi Thuy Nguyen (ITODYS)
The students also participated to an original activity, a food contest. Indeed, they cooked ice cream with liquid nitrogen.
The jury rewarded several students: Zahra Abada (University of Nottingham), Amoassi Martin Bossoh (Laboratoire de Chimie Physique d’Orsay), Ala Husseen (Institut des Sciences Moléculaires d’Orsay) et Hala Shakib Dhowre (University of Nottingham).
